ABSTRACT

Volunteer service is an important way for contemporary Chinese college students to carry out social practice, and an effective carrier for strengthening ideological and political work in the new era. During the prevention and control of the COVID-19, college students, as a solid force in the volunteer team, actively participated in the anti-epidemic volunteer service, which not only improved their practical ability, but also practiced the core socialist values and inherited the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Based on the existing practical experience in volunteer service, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has made use of multiple channels and resources to improve the volunteer training system, strengthen the guarantee of volunteer service, realize the high-quality leapfrog development of college students' volunteer service, and provide experience and reference for the innovation of college students' volunteer service in the new era. © 2023, Editorial department of Chinese Medical Ethics. ABSTRACT

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel at the middle of March 2020 has disrupted all aspects of life. Schools, colleges and other higher education institutions were closed most of the time. Teaching and learning continued online in an ERT (emergency remote teaching) format. The situation confronted teachers and students with entirely new challenges of uncertainty. The present study focuses on the perspectives of pre-service teachers in Israel regarding their practical experience training during the times of the covid 19 pandemic. The research hypothesis assumed that the complications caused by the pandemic will have a negative impact on how the pre-service teachers assess the quality of their practical training, which would be reflected in difficulties in their integration at work, their sense of efficacy in teaching, their teaching methods and their reluctance to continue teaching. The study examines the correlations between the assessment of their practical training experience and their self-reported self-efficacy, use of various teaching methods, integration at work, and the willingness to remain in the teaching profession. All at the time of the pandemic. Our main findings indicate that they assess their practical training as good (3.69);have a high sense of professional self-efficacy (4.06);use a variety of teaching methods;and express their desire to continue teaching (3.97). Overall, the findings indicate correlations between the interns’ positive assessment of their practical training and their high self-efficacy, their use of a variety of teaching methods, and their desire to continue teaching © 2022. by Cherkas Global University All rights reserved

ABSTRACT

Academic advising plays an important role in the process of international student learning in a new culture. The article discusses the COVID-19 impacts on international student learning and the growing needs for academic support at the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. By reviewing the literature on academic advising services and conducting an academic advising service needs analysis, the university builds an academic guidance system to support international student academic development during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted to explore international students’ satisfaction levels with the academic guidance system. In this article, we present the results of the satisfaction survey, its effects and actions and offer suggestions for further improvement of academic advising services. © Journal of International Students.

ABSTRACT

The current environment is complex and uncertain. COVID-19 not only brings challenges to the government’s public health governance, but also disrupts the industrial supply chain and poses a crisis to the survival and transformation development of enterprises, which has raised severe tests to the resilience of enterprises and has also become an important issue for scholars to study. The existing academic research and practical experience show that resilience is the key ability to support enterprises to survive the crisis, and stability and adaptability are the main characteristics of resilient enterprises. Stable performance improves enterprise operation efficiency, and adaptability improves strategic flexibility. This paper focuses on the quantitative study of enterprise resilience, analyzes the relationship between stability and adaptability from the perspective of paradox, and selects efficiency and flexibility as discriminant variables from the outcomes of resilience. Based on the financial data of the resilient enterprises and the control group, the variables affecting the resilience of enterprises were determined by discriminant analysis and the measurement indexes were constructed to establish the calculation method of enterprise resilience. By calculating the scores of resilient enterprises and the control group, it is found that the scores of resilient enterprises are significantly higher than the control group in terms of stability and adaptability, which verifies the paradoxical relationship between them. This shows that the resilient firm is not an either-or choice between stability and adaptability, and there is a continuously distributed behavior space between them. Therefore, resilient enterprises adapt to the changing and highly uncertain business environment through constant change and innovation while maintaining the bottom line of survival in the crisis. © 2022, Editorial Board of Journal of Systems Engineering Society of China. ABSTRACT

Routine coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) screening found 1 asymptomatic COVID-19 patient. An emergency sampling team was organized consisting of 1200 health-care workers, and a total of 3.2228 million COVID-19 samples had been collected and detected. This study summarizes the on-site management experience in large-scale COVID-19 nucleic acid testing from various aspects: staff preparation, materials preparation, site layout, logistics support, and information system support. Suggestions are put forward for the deficiencies and parts needing improvement. Such deficiencies included some sampling sites were not properly chosen, different areas were unclearly marked off from each other, and some site moving lines were confounding; how to communicate with the street service workers who had little professional knowledge on the epidemic spread or the working principles of the workflow and site layout; and the way to resolve conflicts on site.

ABSTRACT

In the Chinese medical insurance industry, the assessor's role is essential and requires significant efforts to converse with the claimant. This is a highly professional job that involves many parts, such as identifying personal information, collecting related evidence, and making a final insurance report. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the previous offline insurance assessment has to be conducted online. However, for the junior assessor often lacking practical experience, it is not easy to quickly handle such a complex online procedure, yet this is important as the insurance company needs to decide how much compensation the claimant should receive based on the assessor's feedback. In order to promote assessors' work efficiency and speed up the overall procedure, in this paper, we propose a dialogue-based information extraction system that integrates advanced NLP technologies for medical insurance assessment. With the assistance of our system, the average time cost of the procedure is reduced from 55 minutes to 35 minutes, and the total human resources cost is saved 30% compared with the previous offline procedure. Until now, the system has already served thousands of online claim cases. © 2021 Association for Computational Linguistics

ABSTRACT

There are several theoretical frameworks as well as practical experiences on how to improve the development, implementation, and operations of e-government services. The paper shortly describes the case of the Hungarian COVID-19 vaccination registration service for citizens that was inappropriately designed from the organizing point of view. Application of two general principles, that could have been used during the design of the service, are presented in the paper as an afterthought. Though the lack of reliable data does not allow to identify the root causes of the improper building of the vaccination registration service, it is argued that some well-known lessons could be learned again: e-government services are socio-technical systems that should be designed with systems thinking in mind. © 2021 ACM.

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic has had a serious impact in the world. In the absence of vaccines and therapeutic drugs, disinfection has become an important technical means to block the spread of the virus. By analyzing the characteristics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), we studied a series of disinfection technologies for COVID-19. During the outbreak of COVID-19, Jinan Second Center for Disease Control and Prevention disinfected the houses of the cases to be investigated in a community. The effectiveness of the disinfection technology was verified through the process of disinfection preparation, sampling before disinfection, field disinfection, sampling after disinfection and evaluation of disinfection effect. Compared the data before and after disinfection, the killing rate of the total bacterial colonies in the air and on the surface of the object was more than or equal to 90%, and no SARS-CoV-2 was detected after disinfection. The results show that the disinfection effect of the disinfection technology meets the standard. Finally, through the analysis of the wrong way of disinfection and the harm of over disinfection, the importance of scientific disinfection and precise disinfection are emphasized, and the research has a good guiding value for prevention and control of the epidemic.
